There was always a body of water relatively close to where he lived in his youth, though a simple riverbank always seemed to pale in comparison to the bountiful bounds of the ocean, itself. There had been times within his younger years in which he visited the shorelines of Undella Town, or perhaps even ventured the streets of Castelia, and it had been within those places that he found himself in inheritance of a sea-borne affection.[break][break]

Freeing, it was. Inspiring.[break]
And so he found himself returning to the shorelines so often.[break][break]

Many times, it had been hand in hand with another— yet as he sat there upon one of the many, jutting caressing the further outstretches of the tide, he simply sought for little more than the peace in those moments. The sea had quickly become a trusted companion after his arrival in Hoenn; its status and closeness as equal as the pen and booklet he carried with him so fondly.[break][break]

And so, with a gaze cast briefly upon the waves afar, he took a deep breath of admiration and thought before pressing the former to the latter.[break][break]

Initially, the pen laid betwixt his fingers merely remained still, in spite of the pressure he applied to it. What had begun as the drive to adorn the pages before him within the embroideries of his heart and soul had swiftly turned into a lull in thought. His brows furrowed softly within a quick realization of such, his tongue clicking softly as he absentmindedly tapped his the ballpoint against the sheets bound before him, almost as if there had been an underlying hope that it would help in some way.[break][break]

Before long, however, he breathed a soft sigh.[break]
Better to write to get the mind working, rather than wallow in blank texts for the near future.[break][break]

So, with another attempt of drawing ink against a sheen canvas, he enveloped himself within it while none the wiser of the creature passing through.[break][break]

screech. cry.[break]
be one with the inferno[break]
that burns so vigorously, so vibrantly[break]
within your very soul.[break]
ignite your passions;[break]
burn your weakness.[break]
inhale with me; a fleeting, softened reprise.[break]

Just like it always seemed to in days long passed, there came a lull that followed the words he’d etched upon the page. For a few moments, he merely gazed upon them, rereading the lines he’d created for a few moments in an attempt to figure out how to continue them.[break][break]

Before long, however, a sigh left his lips as nothing came to mind.[break][break]

Another glance to a passing creature in the meantime. Another attempt to further gather his thoughts. After some amount of time, however, a second sigh escaped him as he set his pen down atop the booklet, shifting carefully (lest his work be flung into the tide) to pull his phone out, and alongside them, a small case.[break][break]

From the latter, he plucked an earbud out, and after he ensured its connection to the former, placed it within his ear as a familiar melody began to play. Inhaling deeply, he allowed the melodies to overtake him before taking the pen between his fingers once more.[break][break]

though the strength within is fleeting,[break]
and tho the confidence familiarly wavers,[break]
you always return to the truth.[break]
words are naught more than a cursed boon;[break]
a sacred weapon;[break]
a protected gift.[break]

Better, but much to his chagrin, it would end up being as best as he could do for the meantime.[break][break]

Though a sense of joy had been sparked by the words he'd written, there was a sense of calmness that enveloped him in both mind and soul following them— one that seemed to have brought his inspiration to a gradual halt. The rest of his surroundings continued on as they always had since his arrival; the waves soothing, similar to the winds that blew through on occasion.[break][break]

In the end, however, they hadn't been enough to spur him any further.[break][break]

So, with a reluctant sigh, he inhaled deeply and slowly shut the booklet within his fingers, hooking his pen within its spiral before gazing out across the horizon. He watched as numerous Pokemon soared across the shimmering tides for a while longer before ultimately closing his eyes and running a hand through his hair.[break][break]
